The Eternal Captains
The five University of Iowa Latina students who formed the foundation of our sisterhood in 1990. Under the guidance of Esther Materon Arum and Mary Peterson, our eternal captains spent countless hours ensuring the sororitys continued development. They continue to demonstrate a commitment to being sisters for life hermanas por vida.

The Leaders of First Line
The foundation created by the founding mothers of Sigma Lambda Gamma took root in the first inductees during the spring 1991 term. Not only did this group of women play a vital role in promoting the ideals of the organization on the University of Iowa campus, but they helped in the first wave of sorority expansion at the University of Michigan, Iowa State University and the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.
